What we do
Technology underpins all the success at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. That includes the mobile apps, mobile site and desktop e-commerce platform that handles over £1.2billion of revenue. It also covers the innovative Business Intelligence solutions that provide real-time insights across the entire business.
The teams work using an Agile methodology (Scrum) to deliver two e-commerce platforms, a BI platform and a wide variety of internal business applications. Each team is a mix of Product Owners, Developers, Testers, Database Administrators and Support Analysts who work alongside business users in regular sprints.
The Four Pillars
We work closely with many areas of the business to develop services, applications and websites that are mainly used internally. These include data feeds through to the platform that Jet2holidays' 800 Customer Helpers use in the resorts for case management. We use the Microsoft stack. Development is based on the latest versions of the .NET Framework using Web API and Angular front-ends, combined with the SQL Server behind.
This covers the development of Jet2.com's and Jet2holidays' data warehouse, integrating internal and external data to support business processes, reporting and analysis. Data from the e-commerce systems is transferred to real time to enable key business decisions to be made, based on sales data that is typically presented in the form of dashboards.
We develop and test reservations systems for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays that are public facing. This includes a desktop website and application for customers, mobile variations of these, APIs for business-to-business (B2B) transactions and for mobile applications, and APIs which are used by TripAdvisor and Travel Supermarket to promote Jet2holidays. By using a mixture of responsive and adaptive design patterns, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays sites can meet the needs of users on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. There are also dedicated websites and applications to support sales via third-party travel agents and a large internal call centre.
Testing & Quality Assurance
We aim to provide confidence and assurance that the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays E-commerce and Business Intelligence platforms and Business Applications have been delivered to the quality level and risk tolerance set by the business. This includes functional and non-functional testing (using manual as well as automated approaches), reporting on quality and providing integration testing of various components across the IT estate.
